Married by Hon. B.C. Landsdale, at the home of Artemus Ward, on the 21st inst., Mr. Amos Hicks to Miss Elizabeth Ward, eldest daughter of Mr. West Ward, all of this county....Abbeville, Henry County, 22d February 1849.

Wednsday 23 January 1856
Miss Jeanie Hicks, daughter of Judge Hicks, was married on the 10th ult.,
at the residence of Chief John Ross, at Taleanah, in the Cherokee Nation, to Mr. Stepler, brother-in-law to the Chief.

William H. Ward, age 63, died at his home in Henry County on the 6th inst., A member of the Baptist Church nearly 40 years.

Mrs. Caroline Morris died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.A. Wellborn in Eufaula on the 20th inst. She was born in New York City in July 1792, was a member of the Presbyterian Church for many years.

Mrs. Caroline E. Brown, mother of Artemus Ward,died in Waterford on july 12th.. She was born in the same town in September 1806, the daughter of Calvin Farrar. She was married to the late Maj. Levi Brown, and had two sons, Cyrus W. Brown, well known writer and Charles F. Brown, better known as Artemus Ward.
